Hello friends, family, and dear readers. Should I call myself Lady Wanderingwise? Any Bridgerton fans out there? If you are not, then you should be. If you are, well, I hope you agree each season just gets better and better. I’ll stop here for a quick shoutout of Starlink. One of the best things we did for ourselves was setting ourselves up with the system, and replace the televisions in the rig with a Roku TV. All our streaming available no matter where we are. Only frustration is any local news we get is Phoenix. It is nice to know what our friends are going (suffering) through weather wise, but sometimes we’d like to know what’s up where we are!
At the end of week three, we are parked on the beautiful grounds of our Brother and Sister-in-law’s, Steve and Stephanie Weise, home in Cowiche, WA. Just outside of Yakima. Nestled under the trees, quiet and peaceful, we can only wish that all RV parks were like this!

It has been a BUSY week! When last I wrote, we were on our last night at our friend Jeff Pope’s home outside of McCall, ID. Jeff, being an old friend of Dale’s, has a TacoPan, and with the chef in the house, tacos were the dinner of choice. We had the pleasure of meeting Jeff’s neighbors, Mike and Karen Davis. hearing their incredible life story and adventures, honestly puts us to shame! Having spent may years in Alaska, they painted such a wonderful picture of the state, we really can’t hardly wait to get started! It was a lovely evening, and I’d like to believe we left behind some new friends!

We said goodbye to McCall and headed northeast, staying true to our goal of driving through backroad USA, and made it to LaGrande, OR to visit our friend Laura McManus. After a lovely lunch, and a too quick catchup session, we left for our resting spot at the Wildhorse Casino and RV Resort near Pendleton, OR. This is one of our favorite stops for many years, but this was the first time we have ever golfed there. Of course the day of our tee time was cold, windy, and rain threatened the whole time. But we had a great time, shivering our way through all 18 holes. And to top it off, our time in the casino resulted in us leaving with more money than we brought in! Not much more, but MORE! the warm glow that left us with helped us through the couple of nights of chilly weather. the cold room made for some good sleeping, but the mornings confirmed my suspicions that we need a few warmer options, for both clothes and bedding! especially before we head to Alaska.

So when we left the next day, we had to stop at the Pendleton Woolen Mills. and we HAD to leave with a perfect Pendleton blanket to add to the bed. I LOVE it. Dale thinks he still doesn’t need it……

Our next two nights were in Walla Walla, WA. Here is where we experienced our first Harvest Host stays. What is that, you ask? It is a great resource for RVers looking for something a little different. When you join, you gain access to farms, wineries, golf courses, etc, across the country who invite you to stay on their grounds as a thank you for patronizing their establishment. They don’t always have hookups, but they are quiet and quite fun! Our first stop was at Dunham Cellars Winery. Of course we enjoyed a wine flight tasting, the shade of their lovely courtyard, and bought a new cribbage board made out of wine barrel ribs in their gift shop. And when everyone went home, we enjoyed the views of the hills as we watched the sun set. We took a bike ride the next morning, enjoyed coffee at the Walla Walla Roastery, enjoyed a walk around Pioneer Park and their unique bird sanctuary, received a little bike maintenance at the Bicycle Barn, then headed to Burwood Brewery for our second night stay. We were there just in time for Wednesday Burger and a Brew. Ate a delicious smash burger and enjoyed a couple of beers, while playing cribbage on our brand new board. And then when everyone went home, enjoyed the peace and quiet of country living. our third night, and Harvest Host stay, was at Sage Hills Golf Course and RV park in Warden, just north of Othello, WA. We golfed as our contribution for our stay, and this night we enjoyed full hookups. All in all, a REALLY great resource for our future travels!

So we are now settled in for a week of visits, and errands. We caught up to all the Amazon packages we have been ordering to further improve our home, so now its time for a few home improvement projects, family dinners, and maybe some fun playtime too! So for now, dear readers, I will say adieu and warmest wishes from Lady Wanderingwise, AKA Laurie.
