Week One – Its time to go!

AS I write this, we are camped in one of the loveliest campsites in AZ, Point of Rocks RV located in Prescott AZ, just outside the Watson Lake Park.

If you count the days since we purchased it and left Florida, through today, our RV has been home now for three weeks. Other than having to be in AZ for the beginning of the summer heat waves, we have settled in quite nicely!

We took ten days at Encore Paradise RV in Peoria, AZ (about twenty minutes from our old home) to await the arrival of our license plates, title, and title to the Kia so we could sell it before we start adventuring. In other words, more waiting. Something we have been doing since we listed the house on March 15! Waiting for an offer, waiting for the close, waiting to find an RV, waiting to for everything to be legal. On June 3, it all came together.

Things we learned while we were waiting:

  1. “Your eyes are bigger than your stomach” applies to buffets and packing an RV.
  2. There truly is a comfort difference between 110 and 98 degrees outside.
  3. RV Resort amenities are there for a reason, get out of your rig and enjoy them!
  4. We are not very good at waiting.

We left Peoria on June 3, right after we sold our car to Carvana. What a great system, by the way, i cant say enough good things about them! we are determined to take our time and enjoy what we can, so we stopped for a quick night in Wickenburg, AZ. Big thumbs up to Desert Cypress Mobile Home and RV park. The gal there helped us out though we were calling after office hours and staying only one night. Then we took the backroads over to Prescott, past the Granite Mountain Hot Shots Memorial ( so glad we hiked that one!) and into Point of Rocks. Here for three nights and enjoying what Prescott has to offer. We’ve kayaked (thank you Born to Be Wild Adventures) on Watson Lake (right next to where we are staying) and had a fabulous lunch at Lazy G Brewhouse. Just to remind us how small a world it is, we struck up a conversation with a stranger waiting for a seat as we were waiting for our Lyft, and it turns out they are neighbors of one of our good friends from Trilogy. Life is so funny! This morning we went for a “short” bike ride around Willow Lake, which turned into a 12.5 mile adventure. My kind of offroad cycling….until my directions had us in a bad place and we determined it was better to turn back. Oh well, it was fun! We will finish our stay with a trip to the casino here in town then a round of golf in the morning, and then we are off to start Week two!
